On May 1st, we had the pleasure of presenting the performance “Cyrkowe kolory” during the Svi zaJedno Hrvatsko Naj Festival in Vukovar, Croatia – an international event dedicated to intangible cultural heritage, tradition, street art, and the presentation of diverse cultures.
The festival brings together participants from different regions of Croatia as well as from other countries, offering artistic programmes, concerts, workshops, and events for the whole family.Our performance was presented as part of the festival’s artistic programme and was received with great appreciation and a very warm response from the audience.
Vukovar is a place that has become a symbol of courage and suffering. In 1991, during the Siege of Vukovar, the city was devastated for many weeks by shelling and attacks carried out by the Yugoslav People’s Army and Serbian paramilitary forces. Today, the history of Vukovar resonates particularly strongly in the context of the tragedies experienced by contemporary Ukrainian cities such as Mariupol, Bucha, and Kharkiv. It is a painful reminder that history can repeat itself and that the price of freedom can be tragically high. Our performance “Circus colours”, presented by Theatre Vuala from Lviv, is a tribute to all those who, both then and today, make an enormous effort to preserve humanity.
